My name is Kim Baxendale and I am an Early Learning Full Day Kindergarten teacher. I have been teaching in the public elementary school system for over 25 years. At the beginning of my career I was a grade one and two teacher but for the past 15 years I have worked solely in kindergarten. I have a passion for teaching kids how to write and have developed a successful kindergarten writing program which I call Smarty Writing. This program is phonetically based and begins within the first week of school. By the end of the year all of my JK/SKs' are writing between 5-20 sentences and seeing this progression is one of the most rewarding experiences of my job! This year I will be posting everything about my program with the hopes that other kindergarten teachers will be able to implement aspects of it in their classrooms. I am looking forward to answering questions and hearing feedback along the way!
